A few months before the birth of my first child my wife and I had a baby shower, and one of the gifts we received was a diaper bag. Now this was no ordinary boring run of the mill diaper bag, no this was one of the coolest diaper bags I had ever seen. It actually looked more like a cool backpack that you would see avid sporting people using. I can remember thinking while we were shopping for our new baby how I would love to have one of those cool diaper bags to carry all of the baby’s stuff in, but could never really find anything that I liked.
When we opened the gift containing the diaper bag I was really surprised and happy at how cool it was and that it didn’t look at all like any of the lame diaper bags I had seen. The bag had all you could ever want like a two slot bottle warmer, lots of different pockets for the various needed baby items, different slots inside the main part of the bag for clothing, diapers and food, comfortable arm straps with a belly clasp, a carrying handle on the top of the bag, even a pocket on the strap for an iPod or other type of mp3 player. Even the color of the bag was cool, which was a big plus for me.
The features of cool diaper bags should be functional, as well as lend to their coolness. All of the features that I listed above were very big benefits in my opinion – for instance, the bottle warmers – it was nice to have those so that while we were out on the town we didn’t have to find somewhere to warm the bottles for us. Having a backpack-style bag was much more comfortable to carry than a typical over-the-shoulder bag. All of the pockets and separated storage space really helped us keep things well organized and clean should something get messy in the bag. It was also nice to have the mp3 player pocket on the strap so that we had a convenient place to put our music player.
Now what makes a cool diaper bag cool to one person may not be another person’s idea of cool, so it’s up to each person’s personal preferences. Keep in mind the things I mentioned while shopping for cool diaper bags for yourself or someone having a baby. I think it’s totally worth it to not settle for just any diaper bag and reward yourself or the person you’re shopping for with a diaper bag that looks cool and has lots of benefits and features.

You will be much happier with your decision to get a cool diaper bag and leave the lame ones at the store where they belong.
